The Space Between
A four-week journey into breath and meditation, now available as a replay
For anyone learning to sit in an in-between. Not about calming your mind or getting it right, but about learning to meet what is here, your body, your breath, your actual experience, with more ease.
Where the lava meets the sea, there's a band of dark rock that belongs to neither. The tide comes in and covers it. The tide goes out and leaves it bare. And it is crowded with life, limu, ʻopihi sealed to the stone, meeting two completely different worlds, day after day, and not leaving.
Most of us were never taught to live like that.
Something rises, and before we've felt it, we've already reacted. The tight jaw. The spiral. The sharp word, the scroll, the ten small things we do so we don't have to feel the one big thing.
And still, there is a space between. Between the thought and the reaction. Between what rises and what we do with it. Sometimes only a breath wide.
Small. And life-changing, once you know your way back to it.
If this sounds familiar
- If your mind has a way of running ahead of you.
- If small stressors turn into spirals.
- If you've sat down to meditate and thought, I'm doing this wrong, or, I don't feel what everyone else seems to feel.
- If you're the thoughtful one, the sensitive one, the one who holds it together until you don't.
- If you keep meaning to make time for practice, just as soon as everything else is done.
You aren't behind. You're human.
Nothing about you needs fixing before you begin.
A practice of return
- Return to the body.
- Return to the breath.
- Return to sensation.
- Return to the small but life-changing space between thought and reaction.
This isn't a place to perform calm, or to become good at meditation. We aren't trying to change everything. We aren't trying to become perfectly calm. We're building a relationship, with the breath, with the body, with this moment, in ways that hold up in real life.
At your desk. In the car. In the middle of a hard conversation. Waiting in line.
Meditation has never made my life easier. I feel things, I struggle, I come undone sometimes, even though guiding these practices is my life's work. What practice gives me is a way to live the life I actually have. Full-spectrum. Not tidy, not all light. All of it.
The four weeks
The journey
Week One
Breath as Regulator
We begin with the breath, because it is always here, and it is always telling the truth about how we are. You'll explore how breath shapes state. Simple whole-body breathing, the belly rising, the belly falling, the exhale a little longer than the inhale, can bring a busy system back toward steadiness. Not perfectly. Just practicing return. Again and again and again.
Week Two
Thinking vs. Sensing
So many of us live almost entirely in thought. This week we shift into sensing, warmth, pressure, tingling, softness, stillness, and begin to meet the body as something living and intelligent, full of information. You'll carry one question into ordinary life, for the moments you catch yourself looping: What am I sensing right now? Not what am I thinking. Not what story am I in. What am I sensing?
Week Three
Working With Emotion
Emotions as messengers, not something to fear, fix, or exile, but something asking to be felt and listened to. We begin with sensation: before the story, before the spiral, before trying to explain it all. You'll practice finding an inner sense of ground while a feeling is present, working gently with opposites, and widening your attention when you're caught in a loop. Staying with what you feel, without being swallowed by it.
Week Four
Integration & Wholeness
We gather everything into a simple progression, breath, body, resource, open awareness, that you can return to whenever your system starts to spin. And we touch what lives underneath all of it: the felt sense of being, the remembering that you are already whole, even when stress or contraction is here too. You can feel the difficult thing without becoming only the difficult thing.
What you receive
The Space Between was first held live this spring, four Friday mornings, a small group of us gathered on Zoom. The replay is those four sessions, recorded as they happened: the teaching, the guided practice, and the conversation that unfolded between us.
- Four sessions, about 75 minutes each
- Immediate access, begin the day you join
- Lifetime access, come back to it whenever you need it
- Your own pace: one session a week, the way it was first held, or whatever rhythm your life allows
- No prior experience with breathwork or meditation needed
What the replay doesn't hold is the live piece, sitting together in real time, bringing your own questions. What remains is the practice itself: a soft place to land, on your own time.
Between sessions
If it's supportive, take one session a week. In the days between, five to ten minutes a day is enough. Find a quiet place, sit or lie down, and let the body feel held. Then practice what you've learned, on your own, in your own time.
Keep a journal nearby. A few words is enough.
- What did you notice?
- What softened?
- What surprised you?
So often we think we'll remember, and so often we don't.
What may begin to change
These practices rarely announce themselves. More often, people notice them sideways:
- catching the spiral a little earlier
- finding the exhale in the middle of a hard conversation
- feeling something big without abandoning yourself
- a mind that settles more easily, because it isn't being fought
- knowing, in your body and not only your head, the way back
Once expansion has been felt, you know it's possible. And that knowing changes something.
Who it's for
This is for you if you
- feel mentally busy or emotionally taxed
- feel deeply and think a lot
- want to regulate without numbing or bypassing
- want meditation to be embodied, not abstract
- want something supportive, not performative
- are beginning, or returning after a long time away
No experience needed. No being good at meditation required.
In their words
"I recommend The Space Between to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed."
After the first session I felt instantly calmer, and over the course of the month I learned the tools for shifting back into sensation when thoughts or emotions become overwhelming. I gained insights on how the mind works and how to work with it instead of against it. I learned how to listen more skillfully, and how to feel without abandoning myself. Rebekah provided a nurturing, supportive space that allowed for vulnerability and sharing. I highly recommend, any moment spent learning from Rebekah is a gift.

"The Space Between offers a realistic approach to meditation."
We curiously examined how the mind works, its tendencies and signals. From there, we practiced meditation that complements the strengths of the mind and the intelligence of the body. This approach honors and cultivates the ability to listen to the cues the body is giving us, and gives the mind a sense of security so that it can settle. This course taught me how to listen, deeply and strategically, for intuition.

"Committing to The Space Between during one of the busiest times in my life was such a gift."
Rebekah's words, her presence, allowed me to just "be" throughout it all. The joy she finds in life, in ALL the things, the beauty of "getting" to do life, the messy, the monotonous, the stuff we would rather not be doing, well, how lucky are we that we GET to do it all?! This message will walk beside me for a lifetime and more. Thank you, thank you! I know I will be back for more.

"I'd recommend this to any and every single human who wants to live well."
I'm in awe. Rebekah's knowledge is out of this world. She's a walking sage among us, truly embodying these teachings she so effortlessly weaves into accessible, applicable understanding. [Breathwork has] truly changed my neural landscape, shifting my perspectives into true embodiment.

"My understanding and perception of life in general has changed from the inside out."
This experience is different from all trainings I've taken before. My understanding and perception of life in general has changed from the inside out, giving me new lenses and a new set of tools to participate in my life's path. I would recommend this to anyone curious to expand their knowledge and awareness of the world and themselves.

About Rebekah
I'm Rebekah Grace Rivera, a meditation and yoga teacher, teacher trainer, writer, and mother. I taught in Los Angeles for many years, and I write to you now from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
My work spans breath, movement, mudra, Yoga Nidra, meditation, and quiet inquiry into what's already here. I lead The 300, a year-long advanced training for teachers and space holders, and Gathering, a home for weekly practice that doesn't depend on geography.
I believe the practices that changed my relationship with life are everyone's birthright. And they get to be simple, accessible, and real.
"When it comes to educating, there's no one quite like Rebekah. She's just magic."
